Solid Division 2 Finish For Wells A.

A solid season for Wells Ladies A Team ended with a defeat and mid-table safety. They lost 7-4 away to Victoria A, but captain Vicky Flicker will be pleased to finish in the top half of a competitive division.

B Team Pleased With Top Half Finish

Wells Ladies B team played their last match of the season at home against Bridgwater D, and ended on a high note with a 10-2 victory. It was not all plain sailing though, as Jeannie Fullman and Ginni Smith took three sets to beat both Bridgwater pairs, winning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 against their 2nd pair and 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 against their 1st pair.

Binkie Heather and Kim Hole beat the Bridgwater 1st pair 6-2, 6-2 but went on to have a very close first set against their 2nd pair, which they eventually won in a tie- break, before comfortably taking the second set for a 7-6, 6-2 win. Captain Jeannie Fullman said: “Overall the B team enjoyed a good season. We won 6 matches and only lost 3, and should be pleased to finish in the top half of the Division.”
